The Library has evolved into a complete library system with adequate physical and on-line resources to facilitate the teaching-learning and research activities of the college. In keeping with its vision of enabling seamless access to quality knowledge and information resources in diverse formats, the library has created open access library facilities and easily accessible online resources. Additionally, the library is in the process of establishing online access with other information and knowledge portals.
Some of the innovative initiatives of the University Library are as follows:
- Library organizes exhibitions and displays on important occasions and programs celebrated and conducted by the university. e.g. displays are organized on Foundation Day, Women’s Day etc
- Library also arranges exhibition and sale of books in which various booksellers exhibit the recent publications. This helps in promoting reading and book culture.
- Branch library, Pune organizes ‘Granthotsav’ in which well-known authors are invited to talk to the students and various activities based on books and reading like Quiz on book titles. Competitions are organized for the students.
- Library is partially automated with the help of SLIM software.

Granthotsav
The SNDT Women’s University, Knowledge Resource Centre, Pune Branch has been conducting an annual ‘Granthotsav’ for many years now. This programme is mainly meant for the students and other readers, the aim being to popularise reading. Since last 28 years we are doing this programme. Many competitions based on reading and books are organised for students and staff in Granthotsav. Readers always give overwhelming response to these competitions.
During the past years, prominent personalities like Dr. Jayant Naralikar, Dr.Mohan Agashe, Dr.Shreeram Lagoo, Justice B.N.Deshmukh, Shri N.S.Inamdar, Shri Avinash Dharmadhikari, Dr.Anil Avachat, Smt.Madhuri Datar, Shri Sudhir Gadgil, Dr.Ramachandra Dekhane, Shri Da.Ma.Mirasdar, Smt.Sumitra Bhave, Smt. Jayashree Fadanvis, Shri Mukund Tanksale, Shri Deepak Shikarpur, Dr Narendra Jadhav, Shri Shrimant Kokate, Shri Madhav Vaze, Smt Sindhutai Sapkal, Smt Kirti Shiledar, Smt Mangala Godbole, Shri Charuhas Pandit, Shri Prabhakar Wadekar, Dr Sanjay Upadhye, Dr Datta Kohinkar, Sadanand More, Ms Mukta Puntambekar, Dr Saleel Kulkarni and Dr.Anand Patil have come and talked to our students and readers about their work. They also explained how reading helped them to shape their lives and their careers.
